Attention Chapter Members!
As the holiday season approaches, we generally take time to reflect the past year. The year certainly presented an uneasy business environment for many of our chapter members, professional and associate alike. Several chapter members are unemployed, associate’s businesses are down and managers have been required to reduce their work forces. Let’s all keep our positive thoughts and hope that 2010 is a more lucrative year.
Your Chapter Board met in December to begin strategizing and planning programs and events for the upcoming year. Although 2009 may have been challenging, a lot of good things still happened. It’s important we built on those good deeds. Keep this in mind: the Board of Directors is deeply committed to provide the programs its members desire to enhance your professional careers. So do not hesitate to let your Board know those professional needs.
There are many events already in the works for 2010, CFM reviews and roundtables/webinars, tours, and again exciting luncheon programs. Also the Broad has determined the Chapter is in a position to take a stronger involvement in the community. Some of the activities considered could benefit you both personally and professionally. More information is coming, so keep Thursdays open.
Since our last newsletter, World Workplace (WWP) 2009 happened right here in Orlando! For those that were able to attend, we hope you found it educational and rewarding. The Orlando Chapter received much praise from IFMA HQ for our involvement. Our Chapter attendance was nearly double from prior WWPs. And how about those shirts. Wasn’t it something to see David Brady, IFMA President/CEO, wearing our chapter shirt. We were told many of our members were approached from WWP attendees wanting to purchase a shirt. Ah! A lost commercial opportunity.
A final note for the year, your Chapter is active and vital because its members care about their organization’s facilities and profession. We challenge each member to consider increasing your participation the upcoming year. 2010 is going to be a special year for your Chapter and IFMA. Both are celebrating anniversaries, Orlando’s 20th and IFMA’s 30th. You can help to make it special by taking part.
Success consists of going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm.
